Halloween

All weekend we’ve warned of check points all over Northeast Ohio this Halloween. There were a few last night, and we have details on more tonight.

There will be one in Warren 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. They will do two locations. The first will be on US-422. The second will be on Summit Street between US-422 and State Route 45.

There will also be a check point in Stow tonight around Stow High School. For those that are going to the Halloween celebration at Kent State, this is right around the corner.

There will also be saturation points all over Northeast Ohio tonight. The moral of the story? Designate a driver before you go out.

Have a safe and candy-filled weekend. We’ll see you next week.

Yesterday we told you scary Halloween tales about how there would be check points all over Northeast Ohio this weekend. Today, we have updates. The Ohio State Highway Patrol sent a press release this morning stating that there will be an OVI check point from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the intersection of Buckeye Road and East 103rd St. in Cleveland tonight. In addition to this check point there will be saturation patrols. This should be the Cleveland check point we found out about yesterday.

You know what we’re going to say next: If you’re going to go out this weekend and have a few cocktails you should designate a driver. Do it. Yes, we do OVI and DUI defense at Taubman Law, and we fight for our clients’ rights, but we’d prefer if everyone just got home safely this weekend.

Here is the full release from The Ohio State Highway Patrol. If you missed our more detailed list of check points for this weekend you can view it here.

CANTON– The Ohio State Highway Patrol, in conjunction with the Cleveland Police Department, announced today that an OVI checkpoint will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. tonight at the intersection of Buckeye Road and East 103rd Street, in the city of Cleveland in Cuyahoga County.

The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The checkpoint will also be held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively combat alcohol-related injury and fatal crashes.

If you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements before you drink. Don’t let another life be lost for the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired.

Halloween is upon us and there is plenty of candy to eat and spiked apple cider to drink. But, as always, we here at the Ohio OVI blog have to interject a buzzkill: Drinking and driving is dangerous.

If you’re going to go out and hit up costume parties this weekend (we recommend wearing a Cavs shirt with a fake knife in the back), know that the police are on the lookout for drunk drivers. In fact, there are four check points we know about this weekend. Here are the details we have on them. As always, we will update these when we find out more.

Akron/Summit County – They will have one Saturday evening in the City of Stow, around the Stow High School. This is right around the corner from Kent State, so if you’re going to go down there for the Halloween festivities, designate a driver.
Cleveland – The city will be having one, but the exact location will not be posted on Friday. In addition, the City of Cleveland will have a license check stop sometime next week. We will update as we know more.
Lakewood / Ohio Highway Patrol – There was a release from The Ohio Highway Patrol saying they will be doing check points. We will update you as soon as know the location, it will most likely be Friday.
Warren – They will be having one, but the date and exact time was unavailable on Thursday. We will update you on Friday.

OVI and DUI in Ohio is no joke. We really don’t want you to drink and drive. If for some reason you don’t want to listen to us, we also help people with OVI/DUI cases at Taubman Law (that’s right, we do more than blog!). Give us a call or an email and we’ll make sure you have proper representation.

Here at The Ohio OVI Blog’s world headquarters we are still celebrating the fact that we passed 500 Facebook likes this week. Our new goal is 1,000, so if you don’t like us on Facebook yet you should do so now. There’s a little Like button at the top of this article. Click it. Or you can check out our actual Facebook page.

Enough gloating, let’s talk about check points. Most of the areas we checked do not have a check point this weekend, but there was a press release from The Ohio State Highway Patrol earlier this week saying they will be out this weekend. They will likely send us an update tomorrow, and we will update the blog when we hear more.

Here are the areas we checked. We will post updates if we hear anything further. As always, we want everyone in Northeast Ohio to drive safe. If for some reason you run into trouble with the law because of drinking and driving, we can help.

Akron/Summit County – No, might have one on Halloween weekend, however. We will keep you updated.
