We’re back and better than ever here at the Ohio OVI Blog.
We received several emails about missing a post last week, and we feel the need to explain. You see, there was this bachelor party in Put-in-Bay and, well, it distracted our entire staff. But we’re here now, and that’s what matters. Let’s dive in.
There are plenty of checkpoints in Northeast Ohio this weekend. Here’s what we know so far.
CORRECTION: Cleveland will have a checkpoint tonight (Thursday) at East 55th and Fleet. It will run from 8 pm to 12 am. We’d heard earlier that there would be one tomorrow night, but we have this one confirmed. We’ll post an update if there is also one Friday.
Second Cleveland Checkpoint: Cleveland will have a checkpoint tonight (Friday) at St. Clair Avenue & E. 72nd Street. The checkpoint will start at 10:00 pm and end at 2:00 am.
Lakewood is going to have a checkpoint Saturday night at 16207 Detroit Ave. it will most likely run from 9 pm to 2 am.
North Royalton is going to have a checkpoint saturday night. It is going to be on the corner of State 82 and Abbey Road from 8 pm to 12 am.
South Euclid will have a checkpoint Friday night. We’re waiting on a time/location. If we are unable to find the location, we recommend checking our previous posts, they usually do them in the same location.
Columbus: Brought to us by Hastie Law
Polaris area: Route 23 (High St.) right at the Franklin/Delaware County Line 10p-2am.
Westerville (Northwest Cbus suburb) Cleveland Ave. in Westerville from 9p-3am.

Happy Friday to you, Ohio.
Before you popped the cork on another fun summer weekend, we wanted to hit you with our weekly reminder to drive safely. As always, the police are on the lookout for drunk drivers, so designate your driver now.
This weekend is Krusty Fest in Cleveland. We thought that would mean a checkpoint for sure, but there are none scheduled. That said, expect saturation points around Whiskey Island, downtown and Lakewood.
Central Ohio will be a little more active. We know of two checkpoints on Friday night.
Lancaster will have one on East Main Street, just east of Graceland Drive from 9 pm to 2 am.
West Jefferson will have on on Route 40 from 9 pm to 1 am.

Are you in need of a top-shelf attorney to handle your workers’ comp, personal injury or OVI case? Reach out to the fine folks at Taubman Law. Also, if you are in Northeast Ohio, listen for their commercials on the Allen Cox show starting this month.
It’s been a hot, hot summer, but there’s still plenty going on around Ohio.
We like to party at the Ohio OVI Blog, but we also like to designate our drivers. Let’s dive into some details about checkpoints for this upcoming weekend.
There are plenty of fun parties going on around Cleveland the next few days, including Scene’s Fourth Annual Ale Fest at Lincoln Park (not the loud band, the nice park). This means there will likely be saturation points throughout Northeast Ohio. We also know of two checkpoints in NEO.
Euclid is going to have one Friday night. It will be held near Interstate 90, but they did not release exact times.
Cleveland will have one as well. It will likely be on Saturday around W. 116 (we’d originally said W. 117). We have heard the time yet. We’ll keep you updated.
There’s plenty going on in Columbus as well. We don’t know what, because we haven’t been invited to anything. That said, there’s a checkpoint in Columbus Friday night. It will run from 9 pm to 3 am on Refugee Road, east of Courtright Road.
Finally, there is also a checkpoint in Port Clinton tonight starting at 10 pm. It will be on Perry Street and it runs through 1 am.
Did you know that more than 2,500 like the Ohio OVI Blog on Facebook? That’s pretty cool considering fewer than 10 people like us in real life. Why don’t you help us add to our internet popularity by liking us.
The information in this blog is often provided by the fine folks at Taubman Law. What’s so great about Taubman Law? Everything. In particular, though, they can help you with your workers’ comp, personal injury and OVI cases. Injured on the job? Give them a ring for a free consultation.
OK, OK, it’s Friday night already. Please stop banging on the doors of the Ohio OVI Blog executive offices asking where our next post is. We’re running a little bit behind. We were busy commenting on some Facebook posts of old college friends.
But we’re here now and better than ever. Well, we’re here anyway.
Here’s what we know: There will be a checkpoint in Clark County tonight. We were not given details on time or location.
Here’s what we think we know: The checkpoint in Parma we had originally said was this weekend likely isn’t this weekend. We don’t have any further details on that right now, but we’ve been trying to find out more.
Here’s what we don’t know: Is there a checkpoint in Columbus this weekend? Maybe. We’ve heard from some Facebook commenters that there is, but we haven’t heard anything for sure.
Here’s some advice: If you like the sauce, designate a driver before you hit the town. Do it.

Perry County is also having a checkpoint Friday. The time and location for that checkpoint will also be announced tomorrow.

Using our future vision, we can also tell you that Parma is having a checkpoint next week, although we’re still waiting for more details on that.
Finally, there will be saturation points all over the state around this weekend and the holiday. Part of that will be a new State Trooper effort held by Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Indiana. This multi-state, two-day effort will start on Friday, June 29 and span throughout all of these states. Make sure you designate your driver before you go out and paint the town red, white and blue.

Happy Friday to you, Ohio.
Let us start by apologizing for taking the week off last weekend. We needed some personal time because we’re a sensitive lot over here at the Ohio OVI Blog.
But we’re back this week and better than ever. Or, at the very least, as decent as ever.
We’ve made our calls and emails for this weekend (May 4-6) and have heard about two checkpoints.
The first is in Chillicothe/Ross County, which will have one Saturday night. The location and time details have not been released yet.
The second is in Fremont, where the Ohio State Highway Patrol is holding a checkpoint tonight. It will be on West State Street from 8 pm to 11 pm.
We also have information about a checkpoint this Thursday in Cleveland. The details of this May 10th checkpoint have not been released, but we’ll share them with you as soon as we hear more.
In the meantime, drive safe and come back to visit us for more updates. Have a good weekend.
Did you miss us last week? Of course you did – you like to spend time with us. Spend even more time with us on our Facebook page.
While we have you, have we mentioned the wonderful team over at Taubman Law? Not only do they work to keep this blog going, but they do a wonderful job of defending the rights of people dealing with DUI/OVI cases in Ohio. What’s more, they also handle personal injury and workers’ comp cases. They pretty much do it all. Check out their site today and feel free to contact some of the coolest attorneys in Northeast Ohio.
It’s nearly the weekend, so it’s time for us to update you on checkpoints throughout Ohio.
So far we’ve only heard about one for this (hopefully) sunny weekend.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol will have a checkpoint in Portage County on Saturday night. They will release the time and date information on Saturday morning. We will try to circle back with them for details.
As always, our list is not exhaustive as we depend on several sources for our information. If you hear of another checkpoint feel free to contact us or post it on our Facebook page. We would also do our regular reminder that this blog does not support drinking and driving in any way. We report checkpoints to keep people aware of their rights and raise awareness about how cops are looking to stop drinking and driving. Our advice is always to designate a driver if you’re going to drink.
As many of you know, last year we did a wonderful article on drinking while watching baseball. One of our intrepid reporters wore an ankle monitor while enjoying the festivities of Cleveland Indians’ opening day. We did the same this year, only this time our undercover source also had a breathalyzer. Apparently he lived this year’s experience to the max, however, and he still hasn’t filed his story. If you saw our writer out on the beat, and you see him again, tell him to sober up and send in his post. In the meantime, enjoy last year’s post again and keep checking back. As soon as we have it, you’ll get to read it.
See you next week. Same time(ish), same blog.

Cleveland is full of good attorneys, but you need Taubman Law if you’re looking for a great attorney who will care about you. The team at Taubman Law handles OVI/DUI, personal injury and workers’ comp cases.
All right, it’s time to get green, Ohio.
As you may have heard, St. Patrick’s Day is this weekend. The fact that it’s a holiday that celebrates green beer means that it also attracts cops. What’s more, this time around it’s on a Saturday. So the checkpoints this weekend are aplenty, as the kids say.
Let’s get down to business. First, Friday night.
We haven’t heard about much for Friday, but Columbus will have one on Olentangy River Road, just east of Grandview Heights. It will take place in the area just south of W. 3rd Avenue and run from 9 pm to 3 am.
We’ve also found out that Lima will have one Friday on State Route 309 in Allen County. It will run from 9 pm to 12 am. (To clarify for those sad people – like the author of this post – who watch “Glee,” this is in Lima, not the rough streets of Lima Heights.)
All the other information we have is for Saturday, March 17.
Cleveland will have one on Huron and W. 6th St. They did not give us a time, but it will be after the parade, most likely in the early evening.
Columbus will have one on Saturday in southwestern Columbus. We don’t have any other details yet.
Franklin County will have a checkpoint in the southwestern area of the county on Stringtown Road, west of Gantz Road in Grove City. It will run from 9 pm to 3 am.
Medina County did not report a checkpoint, but they are planning increased saturation patrols in Wadsworth.
North Royalton has one scheduled from 7 pm to 11 pm. It will be on Route 82.
Olmsted Falls has one scheduled for Bagley Road. It will run from 7 pm to 11 pm.
Springfield has announced that it will work with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to conduct a checkpoint Saturday night. They have also announced increased patrol units for Friday and Saturday night.
Summit County will have one in Akron on Portage Trail. We didn’t get an exact time, but expect it will run from 7 pm to 11 pm.
UPDATED: Portage County/Ravenna reported that The Ohio State Highway Patrol will run a checkpoint on State Route 43 tonight from 10 pm to 3 am.
That’s all we have for now. We’ll keep updating this post and others over the weekend.
