Portage County – Will have a checkpoint Friday night on State Route 43. It will be between 10 pm and 2 am.

Streetsboro – Will have a checkpoint Saturday night. Checkpoint will most likely be on State Route 43, Near Milepost 21, At The Aurora/streetsboro Line. This hasn’t been verified but where it was located last year.

Warren County – The Warren County Sheriff’s Department and Franklin Police have announced an OVI checkpoint for Saturday night, August 20th. It will be held on State Route 73 near milepost 3 in Warren County beginning at 11:00pm.

We will continue to post information as it becomes available to us. As always, our recommendation is that you don’t drink and drive. Should you get caught up in a jam, however, we have two law firms ready to defend your rights. In Central Ohio we have Hastie Legal Offices. In Northeast Ohio we have Taubman Law. Both firms know how to protect the rights of those accused of OVI in Ohio.

Happy Friday, Ohio. We wanted to give you an update to our checkpoint lists from yesterday with some details.

First, the Euclid checkpoint for tonight will be somewhere between 200-222nd street, which is around the area where it was last weekend. They caught several intoxicated drivers in that one, so remember to designate a driver if you’re heading out this weekend. This checkpoint will be 11 pm to 3 am.

Second, Summit County will have a checkpoint in Coventry Township by Portage Lake tonight from 10 pm through 2 am.

Yesterday we did more detailed posts on checkpoints throughout Ohio.

Here is our full post from yesterday about Northeast Ohio.

Here is our full post from yesterday about the Columbus area.

Please celebrate America in a safe way this weekend. Aside from the checkpoints there will be saturation points all over Ohio as police look for intoxicated drivers. If you want to have a few drinks, please take a cab or designate a driver.

As we mentioned in our first checkpoint post this week, we have expanded the Ohio OVI Blog into Columbus with our partners at Hastie Law Offices. We’re excited about the partnership, and happy to bring you information about checkpoints in and near the city for this holiday weekend.

So let’s get down to business. Here is the information we have as of 4 pm Thursday afternoon.

Columbus – Is scheduled to have a checkpoint from 9 pm to 3 am on Saturday. It will be on Refugee Road, west of Hamilton Road. This is a busy spot on the east side of the city. Columbus PD has also promised increased patrols throughout the city over the holiday weekend.

Clark County – Will have a one in the city of Enon on Friday night starting at 10 pm. It will be downtown on Dayton Road, just off I-70 West between Dayton and Springfield.

Fairfield County – There were no checkpoints scheduled for the weekend as of today, but we will check back.

Licking County – There are no checkpoints scheduled currently. We will let you know if that changes.

Montgomery County – We are waiting to hear back from the Sheriff’s office, but most likely there will be one set for Dayton.

That’s all for now. Drive safely this weekend. If you’re going to go out and celebrate America with a few drinks, designate a driver!

Good afternoon, Ohio. After a week away from all of you, it feels good to be back. With the holiday this weekend we anticipate this to be the first of many checkpoint posts.

But before we get into the checkpoints, let us apologize for not posting last week. We were having some technical difficulties as we beef up the site. We’ve updated our backend a little and you will be seeing some other improvements over the next month or so.
One improvement you’ll see right away: Our Columbus partner, Hastie Law Offices, LLC is officially geared up and ready to start sharing the blogosphere with us.

Hastie is located in Columbus and their practice areas include: Liquor law, small business and DUI/OVI and traffic law. They’re good people. Visit their site and let them know if they can help you.

Our friends over at Hastie will be contributing information about their practice and checkpoints in the Columbus area starting immediately. We’re all pretty excited, but let’s get down to business.

It’s only Thursday afternoon, but already the information about the holiday weekend is rolling in. Here’s what we have so far.

There will be a checkpoint in Cleveland tonight. It will be at East 67 and Harvard from 9 pm to 1 am. They will also have a checkpoint on Saturday night, we’ll share those details with you once we get them.

Euclid will be having a checkpoint tomorrow night, but we don’t have the details. As soon as we have them, you’ll have them.

Olmsted Falls will be having a checkpoing on July 2 (Saturday) on Bagley Road and Columbia from 11pm to 3 am.

Medina has reported that it will have saturation points all over throughout the weekend to stop intoxicated drivers.

The Stark County Sherriff’s Department isn’t planning a specific checkpoint, but they will be doing roving checkpoints throughout the weekend.

Speaking of Stark County, Canton will be doing a “Traffic Blitz” for the whole weekend. This means they will have a active police force out looking for intoxicated drivers.

UPDATE: Warren will be having one in Warren City from 9 pm to 1 am tonight on State 45. They will also be doing saturation patrols all weekend.

UPDATE: SUMMIT COUNTY will be having a checkpoint in Coventry Township around Portage Lakes from 10 pm to 2 am.

Columbus hasn’t announced any checkpoints just yet, but the Ohio State Highway Patrol did issue a press release this morning about its increased effort to catch impaired drivers over the weekend. We anticipate more news on that shortly.

The moral of this whole post? Don’t drink and drive this weekend. Let’s all stay safe, for America’s sake!
