Happy Thursday, Northeast Ohio. As always, I spent this afternoon hitting the phones and talking with local police to find out where the check points will be this weekend.
While this is from today, you’ll want to check back tomorrow for an update. In the meantime, here are the areas in Northeast Ohio with check points for the weekend of August 27-29. As always, don’t drink and drive.
Akron/Summit County – Saturday, August 28th: The University of Akron area; we’re still working to get an exact location. Contact us if you hear more.
Cleveland – Saturday, August 28th: They will be doing one on 54th and Dennison from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Maple Heights – Saturday, August 28th: They will have one on Warrensville Center Road from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.
South Euclid – Friday, August 27th: They will be doing one on Mayfield Road from 11p.m. to 2 a.m.
The following areas will NOT have a check point this weekend – as of this post. Extra information is included if they are considering one or haven’t shared details.
Berea – No word yet, but told us to call back tomorrow.
Cuyahoga County Sheriffs Department – Most likely not running one, however they will be out and about around West 6th this weekend in Cleveland, Ohio.
Elyria – They don’t run their own; the Ohio Highway Patrol is in charge of the area.
Lakewood / Ohio Highway Patrol – None scheduled on Friday, will update Saturday if we hear differently.
Mentor – They never do one and shared that they don’t plan on doing one.
Warren – We will have to call back; left them a message today.
One more point of note: While these areas are generally out of my region, I also know that Jefferson, Clark, Geauga, Scioto and Wayne counties will be having a checkpoint on Friday. The exact location and time will not be known until Friday morning. I will update if I get additional informaiton.
